Personal Profile

There is a lot of uncertainty in the world right now.  Whether you’re experiencing unique personal challenges, feeling the stress of current events, or boot-strapping yourself into follow-through on personal growth goals, it may be time for individual therapy.  Connecting with a therapist who you can trust and feel comfortable with is an important step.  The many challenges of life are easier to manage with proper tools and support.  Additionally, we all need a safe place to explore what’s holding us back from where we want to be and from the life we want to experience. I am motivated to provide that safe space to promote healing and growth, and to approach your story with curiosity and compassion.

Over the past 20+ years, I’ve been fortunate to work with many amazing and inspiring clients in several settings, including long-term care centers, community mental health centers, crisis support facilities, and private practice.  My warm, easy-going personality and use of humor seems useful in helping us to build a comfortable and empathic partnership in the discovery process.  I utilize a person-centered approach – incorporating different modalities and techniques that support each individual’s unique needs – including the evidence-based tools of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectic Behavioral Therapy, solution-focused techniques, motivational interviewing, and mindfulness.  I find value and reward in getting to know you, in exploring opportunities for change, and in building a stronger foundation in personal wellness.  Sometimes our work might be leisurely and exploratory; other times that work might identify and achieve small-scale, doable goals in pursuit of lasting change.  I like to bring a flexible approach to our game planning that honors your unique needs and interests.

Areas of particular interest include family and relationship issues, depression and anxiety, grief and loss, life transitions, and other chronic mental health conditions.  I appreciate diversity and continue to learn from my work with others.  LGBTQIA+, POC, advocates and people of faith are all welcome.  I offer in-office appointments in Seattle as well as secure online, telehealth appointments.

Please feel free to contact me if you would like to see if working together might be a good fit for you.
